The “Dentists on a Mission” Mission Trip experience is designed to offer an immersion in the lives of people who are homeless
The idea of a “Mission Trip” usually involves going to “another world” to share the love of Christ in word and deed.
The Rescue Mission of Roanoke is a place where for 65 years those who are suffering and those who feel called to stand with the poor can meet and form a partnership that is respectful and safe. Our goal with “Dentists on a Mission” is to facilitate a mission trip experience where those who come to help and those who need care form authentic relationships that broaden the vision of what God can accomplish in all of their lives.
The “Dentists on a Mission” Mission Trip experience is designed to offer an immersion in the lives of people who are homeless. This event will take place on the Rescue Mission campus which includes various shelters for men, women and children, an adult learning center, a studio arts program, a residential recovery program, and a clinic (medical, psychiatric, vision and dental). For this experience to be successful, participants must come with an attitude of “surrender,” making an effort to hold in check “assumptions” and “expectations” as well as an offering of restraint in judging the experience until the end.
There will be a survey at the end of the experience so that we can benefit from your feedback and that of the people you serve going forward.
