Recovery Learning Center

Mending Wings Learning Center is an important part of our recovery program. Each participant is assessed for aptitude and ability, and given an individualized learning plan. Staff and volunteers assist with teaching courses, and with tutoring individuals at all levels of learning.

Class Opportunities

In the Learning Center we conduct a range of academic classes to meet the participant’s individual learning goal. Participants are grouped homogeneously in classes with tutors in Math, Language and Writing Skills to strengthen their current skills and prepare them for return to the workplace. Participants are offered a broad range of elective courses, including a foreign language, computer programming and joining a debate team.

We depend on committed teaching volunteers and invite anyone interested in sharing their gifts of knowledge and time to help as a tutor or as an instructor to contact Leslie Littlefield, Volunteer Coordinator, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 540.777.7651.
