Did you know that May is Rescue Mission Month? We have a lot of cool things going on that we want to share with you!
Every day during the month of May, make sure to visit our Facebook page. The four words heard most often on every Rescue Mission tour are “I had no idea,” and because of that we will be posting a new “I had no idea” fact about the Mission each day. Please like our page and share these posts with your friends. Together, we can make sure more people will have at least some idea of all the ways the Mission is working to provide help and hope to men, women, and children in crisis!
We are saying a huge THANK YOU to local church staff members for being the hands and feet of Christ daily. We are hosting a special Church Staff Appreciation Luncheon on May 17 from 12-1:30pm. Whether you are a pastor, associate pastor, worship leader or administrative assistant, we invite you to join us for a special lunch, music and speaker Dr. Thomas Milam, Interim Co-Chair of Psychiatry at the VT-Carilion School of Medicine. RSVP to 540-343-7227 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
This month we are celebrating the opening of our Day Resource Centers in the Women and Children’s Center and the Men’s Shelter. These Centers will provide direct access to Case Managers as well as a place for participating guests to store their belongings during the day as they search for employment and housing. Computers will be available for job applications and housing searches, as well as washers and dryers where guests can do their laundry.
We are also celebrating a new dishwashing system in Food Services. The new dishwashing facility and equipment will provide more efficient cleaning and a safer environment in the kitchen for staff and the many volunteers who help prep and serve each meal. Will you share in the excitement? We invite you to celebrate with us at an Open House on Thursday, May 25th from 1 – 2:30pm. Browse through these updated areas, mingle with staff, and enjoy a special dessert. We look forward to seeing you there!
