Ways you can help for our 75th Anniversary

  1. Don’t give out money on the street
  2. Host a Medical Street Outreach Clinic at your church
  3. Tour to learn more, invite someone who doesn’t know about the Rescue Mission to join you
  4. Volunteer for the first time or in a new area you haven’t tried before
  5. Collect canned foods to help provide 3 meals a day and Manna Food Boxes
  6. Become a monthly donor
  7. Invite someone from the Mission to speak at your church, business or civic group
  8. Take up a special offering for the Mission at your church
  9. Come to our Open House on July 2
  10. Be an advocate for affordable housing in the Roanoke Valley
  11. Read Rough Sleepers
  12. Read Dopesick and Raising Lazarus
  13. Read Poverty in America
  14. Download the prayer calendar each month
  15. Host a birthday party for our shelter guests
  16. Pick up our monthly wish list

  28. Invite our guests and team members to your church & church events
  29. Provide support to our team members – recognition acknowledging their efforts, gifts of appreciation, words of encouragement
  30. Volunteer to provide transportation assistance to interviews & jobs
  31. Provide opportunities for pre-school assistance for our guest children
  32. Donate items you don’t use or need to be sold in our thrift stores or for distribution to our guest
  33. Donate clothing you don’t think can be used, to be recycled
  34. Refer friends/relatives to become a part of our team as an employee
  35. Develop a partnership with HR for opportunities to recruit (for organizations) 
  36. Challenge your local church or youth group to collect cans of 75 quarters  ($18.75 each) 6 cans is $112.50 
  37. Challenge your local church/youth group to participate in the Drumstick Dash 
  38. Collect and donate 75 washcloths to the shelters 
  39. Collect and donate quilts for the shelters 
  40. Consider hosting a chapel 
  41. Consider partnering with those who have recently moved out in their new life through the Aftercare program 
  42. Host a children’s event for the children in shelter. 
  43. Spread the word through a Social Media Blitz! Share social media stories about the mission on your personal social media – challenge your whole Sunday School, Small Group or Youth Group to do it for 75 days
  44. Own a business? Connect with our Job Specialist to see how your business may give opportunities to help those in shelter find employment.
  45. Collect and donate 75 bottles of sunscreen 
  46. Collect and donate 75 bras
  47. Collect and donate 75 flip flops
  48. Collect and donate 75 placemats created by children (those typically bring smiles)
  49. Donate 75 encouraging/positive words yard signs to strategically place around the Mission lawns on our celebration day
  50. Collect and donate 75 painted rocks w/positive words or bible verses to place around the Mission
