We serve individuals who are currently at risk of being homeless, experiencing homelessness, and those transitioning into permanent housing in the Roanoke Valley. We have a community health worker on staff.

The G. Wayne Fralin Free Clinic for the Homeless, a ministry of the Roanoke Rescue Mission, operates under a volunteer Medical Director and numerous other volunteer healthcare providers. The staff and volunteers provide the care and services an individual needs to improve their quality of life.

Our providers focus on a holistic approach for each person that walks through the door.

What is Medical Street Outreach?

The Fralin Free Clinic’s Medical Street Outreach program represents a vital component to effectively serving the needs of the unsheltered and underserved populations within the Roanoke community. This service brings medical care directly to the streets, offering immediate health services to those who might otherwise go without due to barriers such as lack of transportation, mental health struggles, or unawareness of available resources. Staffed by dedicated healthcare professionals and volunteers, the outreach program provides screenings, basic treatment, referrals to specialized care, and health education, all free of charge.

Who do we serve?

Our Medical Street Outreach is available to anyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness. This is a broad definition, but includes individuals who are sleeping outside, in cars, abandoned homes, and more. If there is no medical emergency, please contact the clinic at (540) 777-7671. We encourage anyone who is in need of immediate, emergency medical care to not wait for our Street Outreach Team, but to call 911 and/or visit your local Emergency Room.

What services are available?

Services include but are not limited to: Wound care treatment, mental and physical health exams, medication management, and case management.

How can you help?

Volunteer: Know someone who has healthcare experience? We can use you on outreach! Donate: When you give to the Mission, your gifts help programs like Medical Street Outreach thrive. Advocate: Medical street outreach is a critical component to bringing down the number of people sleeping outside in the Roanoke region. This program helps us to encourage people to sleep in a safe space like the Mission where they will receive a hot meal, clean clothes, the love and support of our staff and so much more.
