Ways to Give

Give the Gift of Hope

When you give to the Rescue Mission, you are providing a meal for a hungry child, health care for someone who has no options, one more day of supported sobriety for the addict, job training for the previously unemployable, food for a family on the verge of homelessness, tutoring for the woman getting her GED, and so much more. When you give to the Rescue Mission, you give hope to the hopeless.

What is a Donor Advised Fund?

Donor Advised Fund (or DAF) giving has become more popular for individuals and families that want to benefit multiple charities throughout the year and for extended periods of time.

A DAF is a separately managed fund that is maintained and operated by a sponsoring organization, such as Fidelity or Schwab. In addition to offering ease of administration, a donor-advised fund offers the opportunity to create a low-cost, flexible way to diversify your philanthropy without the expense of creating a private foundation.

Any individual or business in Virginia may seek to take advantage of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) and receive tax credit for their donations. We receive a certain amount of NAP credits to distribute to our donors every year. Tax credits are given in the order in which gifts are received.

The credit is worth up to 39% of your donation amount. The minimum donation value must be at least $2,000, but no more than $125,000 in a taxable year for an individual. The minimum for a business or trust is $616.

If you are interested in receiving VNAP credits, please contact our Director of Development, Leah Shank at leah@rescuemission.net, to ensure that we have NAP credits available for your donation.

A tax credit certificate can take up to 8 weeks to generate after donation is made and the 2 required VNAP forms are submitted to the Rescue Mission.
